About Mass Tort AI

the AI in Mass Torts Subgroup

This group focuses on how AI continues to revolutionize mass torts practice

and

how AI’s use in consumer and medical products creates new mass tort litigations

AI presents a unique opportunity to transform the mass torts space in two significant ways.

  1. Use of AI began with marketing and eDiscovery. With the explosion of generative and next wave AI, new opportunities abound. From automated workflows, to AI-based record review and document generation, to AI-assisted depositions and trials, the possibilities are truly endless despite the triteness of the phrase. This group focuses on driving technology to make mass torts more efficient and to better serve clients.
  2. As we all know, AI is not only being used to transform mass tort practice. Indeed, its ubiquity permeates consumer products from phones to cars. Medical devices, facial recognition, and social media present even more complex uses of AI. The use of AI thereby presents unique issues that give rise to new litigations. This group also explores mass tort litigations involving AI.

Mass Torts AI

This groups hosts various events. There is a running working group meeting where members explore existing technology. Occasional tech showcases allow companies to present their solutions to various case issues in the mass tort space. The group produces publications and presentations to help inform the broader community about available solutions, pitfalls to avoid, and best practices.

Additionally, some members choose to partner up to drive development of new technologies. Some invest in legal tech or legal op services. Others serve as formal or informal advisors and consultants. Each endeavor to help harness AI in the mass torts arena by propelling the cutting-edge forward.
